Another custom bike

Here’s another custom bike my father created in the very late 60’s. It started life as a Puch and was converted by stripping it down to nothing, building a square tube frame, mounting a 5 HP Briggs motor with a Comet Torque Converter and a huge tooth rear gear. The bike had an incredible low end and a good top end due to the torque converter. My Dad was not to happy when he came home one evening after work and found I had been caught by the local po’po riding the bike with a passenger. The bike had been confiscated and towed away by a wrecker. The bike did survive and so did I.

Real Schwinn Sting-Ray Chopper Bicycle, NO BS

This photo was taken in Columbus, Ohio around 68-69. It’s a real Schwinn Sting-Ray Chopper Bicycle. That’s me on the bike, my Dad cut the yoke at an angle and flipped it 180 to get the rake. It was a monster to ride. When you slightly turned the handle bars either direction the bike wanted to lay down. The local hangout was BBF and I made a few dollars there betting other kids and a few adults they could not ride the bike. I got pretty daredevilish at riding it.
